In Pursuit of Love

Is It Worth Pursuing?

Topics: Love , Hope
Scripture: John 3:16-17

Love is one of the words we've heard most often since childhood.

They kept telling us how important a virtue love was, this thing called love had such qualities that it excites one when heard...

Love was patient, all the old movies, novels that became classics, the most striking love stories were always about something that lasted a lifetime, could endure difficulties, something that obstacles and challenges couldn't shake...

It was patient. Love was compassionate. From Teacher Mahmut of Hababam Class to his Mother Hafize, from love movies to songs, love's compassion was always being told... Its kindness settled somewhere in our minds like the safety of a harbor to take refuge in.

Love wasn't jealous for instance, it always took pleasure in the other's well-being and success, it didn't boast and wasn't proud but praised and encouraged the loved one, didn't hide its love but put it into words.

When it comes to love not being rude, I must say this topic is a bit contradictory. I still haven't understood phrases like "I love them so I can beat them" or "He's my husband, he can both love and beat me" - what kind of love is that?

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
